Background on the Team

The Fixed Income Derivative Documentation Team consists of three groups: The Drafting Team, the Retrievals Team and the Verbal Affirmation Team. All teams focus on working to regulator guidelines and market wide best practice.

The Verbal Affirmation Team verbally confirms trades with counterparties/ clients prior to any settlement, minimizing firm risk and providing assurance that the trade economics are captured in a timely and accurate manner.

The Drafting team looks after the production of documentation for Fixed Income Derivative trades for EMEA and Asia, ensuring accurate trade representation to match our internal risk bookings.

The Retrievals group is responsible for confirming that trades are agreed with counterparties, economic terms of the transactions are agreed and that we have sign off on the legal documents produced by the drafting group.

The function/ process broadly entails affirming and confirming trades. It involves liaising with internal stakeholders (drafting and middle office teams) and external broker dealers to ensure timely dispatch of confirmations, receipt of counterparty confirmations, affirming, matching, raising and resolving breaks and queries and executing trades across paper and electronic platforms.  

 

Primary Responsibilities

The person/ position will be responsible for various tasks and activities as broadly listed below.

  1. Responsibility for performance of various functions within the team as allocated
  2. Organize own day to day tasks per functional procedures to ensure all priority tasks are completed to deadline specifically using the appropriate systems/tools
  3. Review weekly figures against designated metrics and provide status to Supervisor/Manager on reportable items where required
  4. Identify risk issues, escalate where appropriate & provide assistance in resolving
  5. Actively ensure upward, downward & peer communication of developments and issues, facilitate problem solving discussions
  6. Deal with regular queries from internal and external clients
  7. Communicate with immediate team members on day to day issues, business process improvements, ideas and results
  8. Understand the functions of the business supported and is able to consider the implications of their own actions within the group
  9. Take responsibility for more complex transactions and functions in the team
  10. Provide coaching and assist with the development of the junior team members and contribute to their work
  11. Carry out tasks related to the job in accordance with the instructions of the superior

Skills required (essential)

  1. Minimum Bachelor degree
  2. Accuracy, attention to detail, good organization skills and high ability to multitask
  3. Strong written and spoken communication (English) skills
  4. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word), and/or other relevant applications
  5. 1-3 years of experience in Banking, Capital markets, Broking firms. Experience in Derivatives, middle office functions preferred
  6. Relevant product knowledge (on Fixed Income Derivatives like Interest Rates, Credit) will be an added advantage
