ISG Product Operations is a world-class global team of dedicated professionals, performing a myriad of functions, all with a common purpose: to manage Client's Clearing and Trading & Client operational processes and deliver value to our clients in a controlled and efficient way. The broad organization partners closely with Sales and Trading to develop and implement new products and services as well as drive efficiency and reduce risk in our processes. At all times we are focused on delivering quality service to clients both internal and external.

 

Team Profile:

 Market Regs Client Onboarding and Regulatory Services (CORS) is an Operations group within Institutional securities group product operations (ISGPO) that is responsible for adherence to client regulatory requirements during the life of the client’s relationship with Client. This includes market regulations such as MIFID, QIB, QFC, Dodd Frank, EMIR, HKPI, etc.

The team is comprised of regulatory SMEs that provide support and regulatory control to global Business Units and stakeholders. The teams work on cross-functional projects in support of changed or new regulations, processes and controls that have an impact across the Firm coordinating with Legal, Compliance, Central Change and Technology.

 

 The Market Regs New Client New Business team is responsible for maintaining, reviewing, processing, and reporting regulatory programs; ensuring the data and documentation required is collected for new clients or existing clients extending their business relationship with client into new products/jurisdictions.

 

Market Regs have a global footprint with offices in Hong Kong, Bangalore, London and Baltimore.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an Associate to join our CRS team in Bangalore.  This position will support the Firm’s Equities, Fixed Income, Investment Banking, Investment Management businesses. Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure key mandatory regulatory data attributes like classification are updated in the system at the time of onboarding post research and fulfilment of missing data attributes.
  • Ensure clients understand the risk associated with securities transactions and are able to judge their investments independently. This is ensured by sending information disclosures/notices and securing certificates for various programs like QIB, FINRA 2111, SMMP, SFTR disclosure letter and Foreign bank certificates.
  • Manage change with respect to evolving market regulations like Brexit, UMR and SBS.
  • Ensure Client reports correctly on behalf of its clients when reporting obligation has been delegated by the client to mandated by regulation.
  • Close collaboration with legal, compliance and business risk management units to help implementation of onboarding policies.
  • Timely escalation to line manager, legal, compliance and business risk management units for any exceptions to standing operating procedures.
  • Partner with change the bank technology to implement system and workflow changes in response to regulatory requirements. Align internal policies and procedures with respect to client onboarding from regulatory standpoint.
  • Update Firm systems and databases with information and documentation as obtained from clients.
  • Handle inquiries and ad hoc requests from internal clients including Compliance where required.
  • Strong understanding of market regulations front to back to be able to conduct remediations and clearing backlogs as a result of corporate actions, change in regulatory requirements and change in workflow to name a few.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to ensure our processes are sound, relevant and are in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to handle volume spikes and prioritize work including ad-hoc requests and projects to meet business demands in a timely manner.
  • Support Functional Managers in the performance of quality & control checks; include the performance of 4-eye checks, collection of error types and analysis of root causes to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Support Functional Managers during internal audit, testing and external reviews by way of delivering process walk-through and preparing sample packs for auditors and testing team to review.
  • Deliver with quality, accuracy, and timeliness with at expected throughput rates.

 

Skills Required 

 

  • Strong knowledge of market regulations like Dodd Frank(DF) , Security based Swap Dealers(SBS) , European Market Infrastructure regulations(EMIR) , Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) , Securities Financing Transactions Regulation(SFTR) , Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA 2111) , Qualified institutional buyer (QIB) ,Qualified Financial Contract Stay Protocol (QFC) , Unclear Margin Rules(UMR) , Sophisticated Municipal Market Professional certificates (SMMP) and Foreign Bank Certificate (FBC) is a must.
  • Strong attention to details and research/investigative skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with Business Units, Compliance, global colleagues and build effective working relationships
  • Ability to work independently and meet the business deadlines with accuracy, handle trouble shooting to mitigate risks
  • Quick learning ability to understand policies, procedures, systems, processes and controls

 

 

Experience Required

 

  • Minimum 2 to 8 years’ of work experience
  • Experiences in client classification, clearing obligations, US person status, Cross border representation and protocol 1 and 2 of Dodd frank, EMIR agreements, Portfolio reconciliation and compressions, margin rules, ISDA and cross regional compliance.
  • Experience with DTCC and Markit is a plus.
