The team manages approximately $500MM between legacy investments of the MSIP platform and a new India-dedicated infrastructure private equity fund that was raised in July 2020. This fund’s strategy is to identify unique opportunities within the infrastructure sector that are at an inflection point. Five investments have already been completed by this fund in city gas distribution, healthcare, logistics, telecom infrastructure and waste management.
Client prioritises environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues in infrastructure investing. The India-dedicated infrastructure private equity fund has implemented best-in-class systems and processes for management of ESG risks and opportunities and strives to achieve meaningful impact through its investments.
Primary Responsibilities - We are seeking to add an E&S consultant to our team who will be responsible for identifying and managing E&S risks in the fund’s portfolio companies. As the team’s E&S consultant, you will also play a vital role in the E&S-related evaluation of new investments. Post-investment, you will ensure that all portfolio companies develop and implement E&S management systems and capabilities and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) in line with global best practices by working closely with the management teams of portfolio companies. You may also play a role in supporting the portfolio companies on their CSR initiatives.
Finally, you will lead internal and external reporting on all E&S matters and you will be expected to keep abreast of market developments in order to deliver E&S thought leadership for the team.
Essential Skills - The right candidate will have substantive knowledge of E&S issues along with a passion for driving progress. You will ideally have 6-8 years of E&S-focused experience, post relevant educational qualification (preferably a Master’s degree), at an E&S advisory/consulting firm or a financial institution.
Specifically, your experience should include a deep understanding of E&S management frameworks, reporting standards and KPIs, preferably in an investment context. Working effectively with multiple stakeholders to drive specific outcomes will be a key requirement of this role and you must demonstrate a wide network of market relationships and negotiation experience. Finally, you must have implemented E&S action plans through on-going monitoring, site visits and external factor reviews.
Prior experience in infrastructure is helpful but not necessary. Also, a balanced exposure to both E&S matters is helpful.
