Department Profile


Since 2007 Client has been expanding its own fully-owned premier investment banking and sales & trading platform in India, providing a full range of investment banking, sales & trading, equity, fixed income, commodities and derivative products, as well as research services. Building on this existing platform in India, we are looking to invest in establishing a Derivative Operations division that will continue to recognize and match the global need of our clients.


Background on the Team





The team will be dedicated to providing full support to the Fixed Income Derivatives Business Units i.e. OTC derivatives Futures, Swaps trading & sales desk. The group is structured to focus on independent control, risk and maintenance functions and each team member is assigned responsibility for a varied set of processes. The group will grow in size over time as more functions are migrated giving scope for future exposure to new processes, products and career progression. 

The team has reporting lines to the Global Head of Derivatives Operations as well as regional reporting lines to the regional functional risk and process owners. 


Primary Responsibilities


  • Reconciliation of Trader's Risk products and positions to Firm books and records and investigation and resolution of breaks.
  • Performing Broker reconciliations and resolving exceptions arising by following up with Sales, traders or Brokers.
  • Perform trade compression activities for capital optimization
  • Monitoring and execution of rates structured notes life cycle events which includes calculation of rate fixings, setting up coupon payments,processing final redemption etc
  • Investigation and resolution of realized cash flow breaks.
  • Production and distribution of exception reporting highlighting specific exceptions that require specific actions to resolve.
  • Perform trade allocation, rate reset & rate fixing activities, rate notices, trade amendments
  • Monitoring of specific system error queues, which require investigation and resolution to ensure the trade flows downstream.
  • Reconciliation of upstream & downstream systems to ensure trade flows are complete
  • The role involves building and maintaining relationships with the regional OTC Middle Office Teams, the Business Unit, IT and other operational support areas to ensure that controls are maintained and breaks are understood and resolved in a timely manner.


Skills required (essential)


  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Graduate at the minimum
  • 2-4 years of experience in financial services
  • Operations experience and Good understanding of OTC derivative, Fixed Income Derivative products like CDS, Interest Rate Swaps, FX
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, good organization skills
  • Strong Communication (Writing and Verbal) Skills. Effective interaction with others across departments and regions
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, and/or other relevant applications
  • Ability to quickly digest new information and learn new businesses and processes
  • Ability to think strategically and provide insight into how to improve existing business and technology processes
