Legal and Compliance Division Profile

 

Legal & Compliance Division (LCD) comprises of Legal, Compliance, Global Financial Crimes, Operational Risk and Regulatory Relations. Compliance, Global Financial Crimes and Operational Risk are together referred to as Non-Financial Risks (NFR)

  • The Legal Department provides guidance, requirements, and procedures for understanding and complying with the laws, regulations and Firm policies that apply to our businesses.
  • The Global Compliance Department identifies applicable Compliance Obligations and maintains a Firmwide Compliance Risk management program, including Compliance Risks that transcend business lines, legal entities, and jurisdictions of operation.
  • Global Financial Crimes is responsible for the development and governance of the Firm’s financial crime prevention efforts across all regions and business units. Global Financial Crimes is comprised of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-boycott, Anti-Corruption (ACG), Government, and Political Activities Compliance (GPAC) programs.
  • Operational Risk refers to the risk of financial or other loss, or potential damage to a firm’s reputation, resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or from external events. Operational Risk Department (ORD) defines the framework, standards, and governance for Operational Risk for the Firm, and implements and monitors the company-wide operational risk program. ORD works with the business units and control groups to help ensure Client has a transparent, consistent, and comprehensive program for managing operational risk, both within each area and across the firm globally.
  • The Global Regulatory Relations Group (GRRG) is responsible for strategic and centralized management of the supervisory activities of Client’s regulators and related developments globally, with a focus on regulatory reviews and examinations and continuous monitoring activities. GRRG serves as the central point of contact for the regulatory staff responsible for supervisory activities at Client entities and for timely reporting to Firm management and other governance or management bodies, as appropriate, on those relationships and supervisory processes, including areas of significant regulatory focus or concern.

 

 

LCD Center of Excellence – Mumbai (LCDCoE) is a part of Client’s Global In-house Center, which provides global support to LCD and is an integral part of Firm and LCD strategy.

 

The EMEA Legal and Compliance Department is charged with day-to-day oversight and coordination of the Firm’s compliance with core regulatory requirements covering all businesses including Institutional Sales and Trading (fixed income, commodities and equities), Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets, Research and Investment Management across the EMEA region.

 

The LCD Center of Excellence – Mumbai is a part of Client’s Global In-house Center, which provides global support to LCD and is an integral part of Firm and LCD strategy.

 

The role of the EMEA Regulatory Initiatives Team includes:

  • Managing the UK Enterprise Rules Management Framework (ERMF) and overseeing non-UK EMEA rules management
  • Reviewing existing first and second line control frameworks for compliance with rules and regulations relevant to Client’s business
  • Development of the EMEA policy framework to oversee and manage Compliance policies and procedures
  • Leading on EMEA Compliance regulatory and strategic initiatives and acting as the EMEA Compliance coordinator for Global Compliance initiatives
  • Providing support to the compliance advisory teams with respect to Global initiatives impacting their area
  • Interaction with key stakeholders including Compliance Coverage Teams

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

Execute day to day BAU work across the Policy and Training space. This includes:

 

  • Identifying FCA, PRA and ESMA publications on a daily basis, logging them in the UK Rules Tracker, assessing which business areas are impacted and notifying the relevant Compliance coverage teams
  • Processing UK and EU regulatory change events in the Firm’s global rules management framework tool, Themis
  • Preparing regular information for internal management and the business
  • Assisting with the management of the Annual Compliance Policy Plan; ensuring policies are reviewed and issued in a timely manner, are in the correct format and are issued appropriately in the monthly Compliance Bulletin; uploading and updating policies on the Policy Portal and maintaining InfoPages and BU pages
  • Providing day to day guidance to key stakeholders in relation to policy processes
  • Assist with the implementation of new or existing processes and controls
  • Interaction with key stakeholders including Compliance Coverage Teams and HR
  • Management of the Outlook Shared Inbox
  • General Compliance administration tasks on ad-hoc basis

 

 

Requirements

 

Skills required (essential)

  • Graduate degree required
  • Up to 1 year of industry experience
  • Basic Excel skills, V-look up and Pivot tables essential
  • Ability to manipulate/reconcile data across multiple data formats
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to remain focused under pressure and prioritize workloads
  • Able to work both as a team player as well as independently
  • Professionally mature and articulate

 

Technical skills required

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel, advanced V-look up essential, some basic Macro skills would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Knowledge of any SharePoint/Portal type site would be an advantage

 

  Coverage

 

  • Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM India time with flexibility on standard working hours for time sensitive matters (may include India Public Holidays).
  • Periodic calls with EMEA internal clients
