Role TITLE - for Data Trust, Data Analytics

 

 

ROLE SUMMARY:

The hybrid Business Analyst / Data Analyst sits within the client Data and Analytics Data Trust team & will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, with a strong emphasis on data governance and data management. This role is responsible for ensuring the client's data assets are effectively governed, secure, and aligned with business objectives with a specific focus on supporting the capture of data lineage across the technology estate.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

The successful candidate will be expected to be responsible and accountable for:

  • Collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to gather, document, and analyse requirements for data-related projects and initiatives
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with data policy
  • Performing data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support the generation of the Data Trust data assets
  • Developing and maintaining data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and documentation to support data governance initiatives
  • Facilitating the creation of data models and ensuring alignment with business needs and technical capabilities
  • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with data governance standards.
  • Acting as a liaison between business units and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of data solutions and governance practices
  • Supporting the development and implementation of data management tools, processes, and workflows to enhance data accessibility and usability
  • Providing training and guidance to stakeholders on data governance best practices and data management protocols
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of data governance and management strategies through regular audits and process reviews

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a Business Analyst and/or Data Analyst role with a focus on data governance, data management, or data quality
  • Strong technical understanding of data systems, including databases (e.g., SQL), data modelling, and data integration tools
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Python, R, Excel, or similar)
  • Experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, or standards
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements related to data (e.g., GDPR, DORA, or industry-specific regulations)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Solidatus)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) & modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Lake)
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present insights effectively
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and experience working in Agile environments
  • Experience working in financial services or other regulated industries
  • Understanding of machine learning or advanced analytics concepts

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Professional certifications in business analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA), data analysis, or data governance (e.g., DAMA CDMP, CISA) are highly desirable
  • Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s in Data Science, Business Analytics, or related fields) are a plus
