Job Description – Lead Software Engineer (SAP TM)

- Shift A: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Shift B: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
1. Position Overview
The Lead Software Engineer – SAP Transportation Management (TM) is responsible for leading the design, configuration, implementation, and support of SAP TM solutions. This role involves guiding junior engineers, driving module-level delivery, ensuring seamless functional integration, and supporting global transport operations through robust technical and functional expertise.
2. Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- SAP TM certification preferred.
3. Experience Requirements
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in SAP Transportation Management.
- 2–3 years experience leading teams or mentoring engineers.
- Proven expertise in transportation planning, carrier selection, tendering, and freight settlement.
- Exposure to SAP TM standalone and embedded deployment models.
- Experience working in global delivery models or Global Technology Centers (preferred).

Solution Design
- Ability to convert business requirements into scalable TM solutions.
- Experience with BOPF, PPF, BRF+, and FPM frameworks.
Integration
- Strong understanding of SAP TM integration with SAP S/4HANA or ECC modules (SD, MM, EWM).
- Experience with middleware tools such as SAP PI/PO.
Testing & Deployment
- End-to-end testing, cutover planning, and post–go-live support.
Agile Delivery
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams across global locations.
Documentation
- Skilled in writing functional specifications, configuration documents, and training materials.
Leadership
- Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers and lead module-level delivery.
5. Additional Skills (Good to Have)
- Performance tuning and optimization of SAP TM planning runtimes.
- Functional debugging and collaboration with ABAP teams on WRICEF objects.
- Freight optimizer configuration and planning profile management.
- Third-party integrations: LSPs, visibility tools, carrier APIs.
- Understanding of freight analytics, KPIs, Fiori apps, and embedded analytics.
- SAP TM Certification (preferred).
6. Roles & Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead SAP TM solution design, configuration, and deployment.
- Drive blueprinting, testing, training, and go-live for domestic & international transportation processes.
- Translate user stories and requirements into SAP TM configurations and WRICEF specs.
- Own module-level deliverables, ensuring strong integration with SD, MM, and EWM.
- Collaborate in Agile sprints to deliver TM enhancements aligned with logistics roadmaps.
- Manage defect resolution and support SIT, UAT, and regression cycles.
Operational Support
- Act as SME for SAP TM during operations, resolving critical functional issues.
- Support teams with RCA, debugging, and issue resolution within SLAs.
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations and design decisions.
- Conduct end-user training and support change management initiatives.
- Work with infrastructure and security teams to ensure compliance with architecture and access policies.
