Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a hardware specialist with deep expertise in high-speed storage systems to evaluate, characterize, and provide insights on advanced SSD hardware platforms. The role focuses on understanding product architectures, assessing design trade-offs, and identifying opportunities for performance, reliability, thermal, and cost improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze hardware architectures of SSD and storage systems to identify design strengths, limitations, and optimization opportunities.
  • Review schematics, PCB layouts, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to assess component selection, cost-effectiveness, and long-term supply chain risks.
  • Evaluate power supply designs, voltage regulation modules, and power sequencing for efficiency, stability, and thermal performance.
  • Perform mechanical and thermal assessments of enclosures, heatsinks, and airflow paths to ensure compliance with performance and reliability targets.
  • Conduct signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and EMI/EMC evaluations using simulation tools and lab measurements.
  • Benchmark and characterize high-speed interfaces (PCIe Gen5+, DDR4/DDR5, NAND flash interconnects) and power delivery subsystems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate findings into actionable recommendations for future product improvements.
  • Support lab-based testing, teardown analysis, and root cause investigations on observed hardware behaviors.
  • Research emerging technologies, design techniques, and mechanical/thermal innovations for potential use in next-generation products.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Strong understanding of high-speed circuit design principles, power delivery systems, and mechanical/thermal design considerations.
  • Proficiency with schematic and PCB analysis tools such as Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, or Altium Designer.
  • Experience using SI/PI simulation tools and lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, VNAs, thermal cameras, airflow measurement tools).
  • Knowledge of SSD architectures, NAND flash interfaces, and associated power/thermal constraints.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance and design trade-off analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hardware benchmarking, BOM cost optimization, and design evaluation roles.
  • Exposure to storage, networking, or computing hardware technologies.
  • Understanding of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-testability (DFT) principles.
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills to communicate technical findings clearly.
