UI Developer (HTML / Section 508 Compliance)

ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for UI Developers with strong expertise in accessible frontend development. You will build responsive, WCAG/Section 508-compliant user interfaces for enterprise web applications. This role requires deep knowledge of accessibility standards, semantic HTML, and frontend frameworks, with a strong eye for usability across diverse user populations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop responsive and accessible frontend interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
- Ensure all UI components meet WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility standards
- Conduct accessibility audits using tools such as WAVE, Axe, NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver
- Collaborate with design teams to implement UI/UX wireframes and prototypes
- Build reusable UI components using Angular, React, or similar frameworks
- Integrate frontend components with RESTful backend APIs
- Optimize frontend performance, load times, and cross-browser compatibility
- Implement keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA roles and attributes
- Work with QA teams to remediate accessibility violations identified in testing
- Maintain frontend coding standards, documentation, and style guides
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of frontend development experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
- Deep working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility requirements
- Hands-on experience with accessibility testing tools (Axe, WAVE, JAWS, NVDA, Lighthouse)
- Proficiency with at least one modern JS framework: Angular, React, or Vue.js
- Strong understanding of semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, and keyboard accessibility patterns
- Experience integrating UI components with RESTful APIs
- Cross-browser and cross-device testing experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with design systems or component libraries (Material UI, Bootstrap, PrimeNG)
- Experience with government or healthcare digital platforms requiring accessibility compliance
- Working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 updates and emerging standards
